It tears us apart

        Leaves only shreds

        Remains of what was

        What wasn't

        What could have been

The innate powerlessness in us all is

        Thrust out in the open

        Without so much as a

        Shroud to cover it and

Shield it from the cold night air which we have

Become so accustomed to but we cannot turn

To look it in the face

When its darkness comes to cast itself

        Upon us

        At the final moment

What you fear is what you lose in the end

It's in the way you know you could have had it all

        At the final realization

        What are you doing here?

You are not the one I want to see

It makes angels bleed and soldiers cry

        Lovers fight and judges lie

It's not going to matter if you fall down

It's not going to matter if I'm with you or

        Without you

Take one last look staring blindly into the sun

        Once more corroded and decayed

Taking the leap, the final plunge

        Once more torn, ripped, frayed

Spiralling downward into an endless abyss

Of feeling and emotion left untouched

        Unnoticed

        Unrequited

Falling further into the eternal darkness

        To hell and back
